The Polish Sarcoma and Melanoma Patients Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting cancer patients, in particular those suffering from sarcomas and melanomas.
The association was founded at the initiative of patients and medical staff at the Department of Bone/Soft Tissue (sarcoma and melanoma) at The Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology Its aim is to unite modern medical expertise with awareness of the needs of cancer patients, based on the experiences of those who have already lived through the trauma of having cancer.
Since 2007, the association has been helping to improve the quality of cancer treatment in Poland.
The association's mission is:
1. The funding of treatment for cancer patients most in need.
2. The promotion of methods of cancer prevention and diagnostics.
3. The provision of technical assistance to medical teams who work in the field of early cancer diagnosis.
The association is a member of the Polish Cancer Patient Coalition. It also works in cooperation with organizations of a similar profile abroad.
